About Markus
Markus is a well-traveled and accomplished individual, born in Baden, Switzerland in 1957. He started his career at BBC Brown Boveri & Co (now known as ABB) before participating in the AFS stage in Minnesota in 1975/76. In 1977, he embarked on an adventurous train journey from Mashhad, Iran, to Switzerland. He moved to Italy in 1979 for 1 year and then transitioned in 1983 to a leadership role as CEO of Damco International Italy, which was part of the Nedlloyd Group, and continued in this position until the company was acquired by Maersk. Following this, he worked for ISCOTRANS SPA in the Tandem Network.
Markus is an avid photographer and is passionate about geopolitics, the internet, and beta testing software such as Pegasus Mail & Mercury/32. Since 2003, he has been in the business of renting apartments to visitors of Genoa, Italy, and delights in showing them the hidden gems of the city.
His travels have taken him to numerous countries, including Bangladesh, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cuba, Egypt, India, Japan, Lebanon, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, and Venezuela, as well as several destinations within Europe. He has been happily married to Maria since 1980 and has been living in Italy since 1983. Maria and Markus are managing the apartments Ninni and Wide together.
