Hikes around Genoa

Genoa is located in the Liguria region of Italy, which is known for its beautiful coastal landscapes and rolling hills. There are many opportunities for walking and hiking in the hills surrounding Genoa, which offer stunning views of the Ligurian Sea.

One popular destination for hiking is the Portofino Regional Park, which is located just south of Genoa. This park covers over 13,000 acres and includes a network of trails that lead through forests, over hills, and along the coastline. One of the most popular hikes in the park is the trail from Portofino to San Fruttuoso, which takes you through a beautiful Mediterranean forest and along the sea cliffs. From San Fruttuoso, you can take a ferry back to Portofino or Santa Margherita Ligure.

Another great place to hike near Genoa is the Cinque Terre, a series of five picturesque coastal towns that are located just to the east of the city. The trails between these towns offer stunning views of the sea and the colorful houses that cling to the cliffs. The most famous trail is the Sentiero Azzurro, which connects all five towns and takes about five hours to complete.

In addition to hiking, there are many other outdoor activities to enjoy in the hills around Genoa, including mountain biking, horseback riding, and rock climbing. And at the end of a long day of exploring, you can relax with a delicious meal of fresh seafood and local wine, while taking in the panoramic views of the Ligurian Sea.
